Industrial Action at Madrid/Barajas Airport

Technical Operations workers at Madrid/Barajas airport have called ten days of strike action over the collective bargaining agreement made between the unions and Aena, which has been extended to cover all employees at the airport.

Strike dates have been called for the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of February; the 16th and 19th of March; the 4th, 8th and 30th of April and the 2nd and 3rd of May. In a letter to the Minister of Development, unions noted how the Technical Operations personnel involved in the industrial action are employed in the direct area of airport security and safety, Emergency Plan, operational procedures, aeronautical information, flight plans and airport slots management, apron coordination, and the allocation of stands, boarding gates and checking facilities to airlines.
